Vote with your feet if you object to recent censorship

Snipping posts which are offensive, etc. is fine. Censoring posts which don't hew the party line such as those related to the banning of a certain member for said "offense" is lame. Even lamer was Rachel's Orwellian justification for censorship in another thread that was banned. That for me was the last straw. I'm outta here.Hey. Dice: I'll see ya but I wouldn't wanna be ya!

I agree completely. Look how the amount of posts/discussions have plummetted. I agree there should be some sort of moderation but the current tone is certainly Orwellian as you describe. My major gripe is this-If you ban somebody or someone asked to have their account deleted, you should purge all their posts. They have done it in the past but refuse to now.

The number of posts/threads naturally will have gone down because the #1 poster is no longer welcome ..............

I do wonder how you sell the reduced page hits/posts to those who are paying for the display ads with a promise of so many views.

Nuts, I was hoping hoapres wasn't posting because he/she finally got a life or at least a job.

I appreciate these boards especially the contractor section (helps to id the real deadbeat clients) but I'm under no illusions that these boards were put up solely for our benefit. Major reason is probably to attract advertisers, especially for those of us coming for the discussion and not so much for job search. I see ads here for classes and services all the time.

So of course, you want to present your business in the best light. Hoapres sure wasn't doing that for Dice so why should they provide space for his thousands of comments? Too bad because he was right on the money about so many things. Where should we have discussions and who will pay the hosting expenses?

I think open discussion helps us all--but at the end of the day, you have to respect the fact that this is a private website. There are other opions out there if you find something you like better.

So are you saying the open and honest discussion should be forbidden, if it does not comply the dice party line?

What is the point of that? I am not to be a cheerleader for dice's advertisers.

And dice needs to respect the fact that we are free to take our business elsewhere. Dice is nothing without job seekers.
